Maj. William Robert Beeson, II. age 85 of North Wilkesboro passed away Monday July 18, 2022 at Wilkes Health and Rehabilitation.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 AM at North Wilkesboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. R. C Griffin officiating. A light reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Burial with Full Military Honors will be held in New Garden Friends Cemetery in Greensboro at 3:00 PM Friday afternoon. The family will receive friends Thursday evening at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
Mr. Beeson was born September 27, 1936 in Guilford County to William Glenn Beeson and Emma Tysor. Maj. William Robert Beeson II was retired from the United States Army. He served in the Special Forces and was a Green Beret. He graduated from Appalachian State University with a bachelor's degree in Education. He taught at Woodward Middle School and Wilkes Central High School where he was also a coach.
Mr. Beeson served in the American Legion as the Post 31 Adjutant in the late '80s till 2005, Bob joined Brushy Mountain Ruritan Club in 2005 where he was very active in all aspects of the club. He served as a club director, secretary, VP, and president. He was very active with the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. He also served on the Ruritan Piedmont District 31 Cabinet as a zone governor and as a Foundation chair. Bob also served on various committees at Ruritan National. Post Commander 2005-Present, Past District 21 Vice-Commander, Current Chair, North Carolina Department Baseball Hall of Fame Committee, Past Junior, and the Senior North Carolina Area 3 Baseball Commissioner, inducted into the North Carolina American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Joanne Saleeby Beeson.
He is survived by; one daughter; Robin Beeson Morrison and husband Scott of Fuquay-Varina; one son; Glenn Beeson and wife Jane of Maryville, TN; three grandchildren; Christian Messoria (Josh), Olivia Keys (Brian), Drew Morrison (Brittany); six great-grandchildren; Brannon Beeson, Sawyer Messoria, Wyatt Messoria, Mayson Messoria, Magnolia Keys and Ellery Morrison.
