
William B. and Emily Douberly
William B, and Emily. Solely responsible for the Douberly's living in and around Savannah today. William served in the war between the states in the 3rd SC cavalry regiment, also the 1st SC militia, and the 2nd SC Cavalry, the 3rd military district
Emily Floyd Douberly, passed away in 1870 from "childbirth fever" in what was then "berrien ward" , on Taylor Street where they resided. Both her and her child who only aged 12 days, and her other child, named Emily Elizabeth, was buried in "Section C" of Laurel Grove North. Otherwise known as the "stranger grounds" section. There is a marker that marks the approximate spot there today. William B, shortly remarried to Rosalie Blandon, and moved out of Savannah, back home to his native state of SC. Outside Hardeeville SC. William B is buried in an unmarked grave at Floyd Cemetery. Outside of Tillman, SC.. Both William B, and Emily are solely responsible for the Douberly's in and around Savannah, GA today. While others moved to other states as well like Colorado, Texas, and Florida
