William "Bill" Lee Anderson of Amissville, VA died December 1, 2024. He was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26, 1945 to William Grover and Frances Marie Anderson. He spent his youth in McLean, VA before relocating to Arlington, VA after his marriage to Lida - his lifelong friend, partner, and love.
Bill began working as a mechanic while in high school then transitioned to a 12-year career as a telephone systems repairman in his late teens. In 1971, shortly after completing construction of their Amissville home, Bill and Lida ventured into a family-based custom home building business - Anderson Builders Incorporated was born.
As a long-time resident of Rappahannock County, Bill was a behind-the-scenes advocate of the community. Among other activities, he volunteered his time supporting the Amissville Boy Scouts (Troop 50), Amissville's Little League baseball teams, and served on the Rappahannock Board of Zoning Appeals.
Bill is survived by his wife (Lida), his uncle (Ira Benton Faidley, Jr.), his four children and their spouses (Lynn and David Oliver, Billy and Peggy Anderson, Lee and Lori Anderson, and Brett and Ann Anderson), eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
The family will not be hosting any services; however, any contributions in Bill Anderson's memory may be sent to Amissville's Volunteer Fire and Rescue (mail to: PO Box 147, Amissville, VA 20106).
