Funeral services for William Allen "Bill" Johnson, Sr., 90, of Williston, SC will be held at three o'clock p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Mt. Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverends John Reeder, William Allen Johnson, III and Dr. David Richardson officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from one-thirty p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4384 Williston Rd., Windsor, SC 29856 or Mt. Beulah Baptist Church, 856 Mt. Beulah Rd., Windsor, SC 29856. Mr. Bill passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Born in Windsor, SC, he was a son of the late Thomas Allen Johnson and Leona Wise Johnson. He was a graduate of Windsor High School and retired from E. I. DuPont as an E & I Mechanic after working 33 years. Prior to working for DuPont, he was a SC Highway Patrolman. Mr. Bill loved building houses; he built his own home and one for each of his sons, Michael and Allen, as well as several other houses. He loved to farm, raise catfish, raise registered beagle dogs, and build honey bee hives. He was a long-time servant for the Lord, he served as deacon and music director in several churches and worked in other capacities before making his church-home at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Mr. Bill also enjoyed singing and was a member of the gospel quartet Adoration.
Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years Linda Kitchings Johnson; a daughter Susan (Edward) Selden of Aiken; two sons William Allen (Marie) Johnson, Jr. and Michael (Gail) Johnson all of Williston; grandchildren Chelsea Johnson, Slayton (Lilly) Johnson, Raymond Selden, Elizabethe (Bruce) Drebenstedt, William (Melody) Johnson, III, Amber (Ian) Stuart, Ashely Bedenbaugh, Bryson (Ruby) Johnson and Joseph Johnson; three great grandchildren Wyatt Dempsey, Brendan More and Willow Johnson; a brother James Carthel "J.C." Kaney, Jr and his wife Brenda; a sister-in-law Betty Bell Johnson and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sisters and brothers Grace J. Kaney, Lonell J. Hiers, Ona Wise J. Quatttlebaum, Louise J. Key, Darrell T. Johnson, Donald Lee "Don" Johnson and Daniel J. Johnson.
