Willard D. Rogge, age 89, of Huron, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, July 13th at Hope Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 7:00 PM Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with his family present from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday evening.
Visitation in Watertown will be from 1:30 to 2:30 PM Monday, July 15th at the Hosanna Lutheran Church, Watertown. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown.
Willard D. Rogge was born April 22, 1930, to Oscar and Nora (Stee) Rogge on the family farm near Florence, South Dakota. Willard attended Florence Public School, graduating high school in 1948. He started farming in 1948. He served four years in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955, returning to the farm in 1955.
On June 2, 1957, Willard married Rosella Howey. In March 1958, he started work for the CAA/FAA as an electronic technician on Air Navigation Aids/Communications Equipment. He served 30 years with the FAA in various positions and locations, retiring in 1988. In March 1989, he began work for Raytheon Service Corp. as an electronic installation technician working in the Dakotas through Ohio. He retired in May 2004.
Willard's hobbies were hunting, woodworking, maintaining his vehicles, and socializing over coffee.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosella; two daughters and their husbands, Terry and Larry Blase and Colleen and Joe Belak; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Sandidge and Myrtle Swenson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Duane Rogge and Keith Rogge; and one sister, Muriel Thorson.
