Wilfried Moellmann, age 92 passed peacefully on Saturday August 10th, 2024.
Wilfried more affectionately known as 'Wil' immigrated to the United States from Germany at the age of 20 courtesy of an Aunt. Wil was desperately seeking a broader education not available in post war Germany. Wil was hired by Ford Motor Company a couple years after coming to the States where he met and married Lois and their home was Michigan. He started his schooling traveling by bus to Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He finally finished with a Masters from Eastern Michigan University the year his son Devin graduated from High School! During all those years Wil continued to work for Ford for over thirty years managing both the Photo Media and Graphics Arts Departments!
His life long passion has been photography. He should have been born with a camera in hand. As a result his photography has been a wide spread joy to all who have been gifted. One such gift was for a picture being admired on a Ford office studio wall by a visiting general manager from Ferrari. Wil took it off the wall and handed him the picture. He was always the 'man behind the camera' and loved every minute of it. His life, family, nature and precious pets have a beautiful legacy of memories all captured in pictures!
Always the consummate gentleman, generous and loving, husband, father, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife Lois of 68 years, daughter, Sheri Townsend, son, Devin Moellmann and son-in-law Gary Smith. Preceded in death by parents Ernst and Auguste Mollmann, sister, Margret Hornschuh.
