Wilfred "Bill" Horning passed away at the age of 88 on March 8, 2021 from COVID. He leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Mary (Pierce) Horning. They had four children together, Mary C. Horning, deceased, Christopher Horning, Aaron Horning, and Elizabeth (Horning) Howell. Bill has six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Bill was a successful artist, designer and teacher. He was a prolific artist and was very active in the arts communities where ever he lived. He exhibited his works of art both locally and nationally for more than 50 years. Bill retired as an art teacher from East Hills Junior High School where he thoroughly enjoyed teaching art for more than 20 years. He enjoyed the art of others as much as he did in creating his own. Bill filled his home with works of art from those he shared his passion with. He was a two time national Masters figure skating champion. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Central Michigan University, where he met his wife, Mary, and his Master's Degree from Parsons School of Design in New York. Bill served in the Army at Cape Canaveral Florida during the development of the US rocket program and retold many exciting stories which occurred during that time. He loved traveling the world with Mary, visiting art museums and enjoying the different cultures and foods. A memorial will be held in his honor during the summer months, date and time to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Center for the Arts on his behalf. Bill will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. www.girrbachfuneralhome.net.
