Wesley "Wes" Howard Hargis, 57, of Allen, Texas, passed away Monday January 11, 2021 of complications from the covid 19 virus.
A virtual memorial service is planned for Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 1pm - details provided below.
Wes was born January 6, 1964 in Borger, Texas to Carl Douglas and Constance Howard Hargis. He was raised and attended school there and graduated from Borger High School in 1982. Wes served aboard the USS Harry W. Hill during his enlistment in the US Navy, Sept 1985 through November 1988. Wes attended West Texas State University and later earned his degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management at University of North Texas. In 1997 he married Sharon Matthews and they enjoyed 23 years of marriage and together raised two children.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1999.
Wes was a ServSafe Consultant, implementing Food Safety Practices, Training and Certification for Restaurateurs and Convention Centers in the DFW Area.
Always original, quick witted and colorful, once met, Wes' impression was never forgotten. With a spirit larger than life, this Parrot Head had an affinity for pirate regalia, top-shelf rum, and celebrating life! Outside of his pirate persona, Wes typically donned one of his many loud Hawaiian shirts, unless of course the occasion called for a kilt! He was proud of his Choctaw and Scottish ancestry. Wes possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of Star Wars, comic books, monster movies and other essential trivia on which he could talk profoundly and at length! Wes made friends everywhere he went and those friends became lifelong friends. He was famous for his theme parties, unique Halloween costumes, bonfires, Blues Brothers, Buffett... those dimples, that laugh, and most notably - that forever warm heart! His keen mind, enduring spirit and ribald humor will forever be missed, but always fresh in the memories of those who loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, son, Duncan, and daughter, Caleigh; mother, Constance of Cedar Hill, Texas; sister, Traci Spratt and husband, Michael of Lancaster; a nephew, Dillon Spratt of Lubbock, and a niece, Madison Spratt of Lancaster; uncle Randy Howard of Ringling, OK; aunts Linda Huggard of Oklahoma City and Nancy Walker of Tuttle, OK; and cousins who call him their favorite cousin.
