Wendell Glease Wilburn, 96, of Beaufort, SC, passed away in his home peacefully surrounded by family on April 22, 2021. Wendell was born on March 31, 1925 in Estill, SC, the son of Robert and Ethel Wilburn.
Wendell served as a corporal in the United States Army from 1943-1945 during the peak of World War II where he earned the EAMET Campaign Medal with 5 bronze service stars. He retired from Civil Service in 1980 after 36 years of service. Wendell was an active member of Port Royal Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Doris, of 62 years and siblings. Surviving Wendell are his four children, Linda W. Seigler, Barbara(Jimmie) Richardson, Wendell O. Wilburn(Linda), and Richard Wilburn; to include eleven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and seven great, great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 3:00 at Anderson Funeral Home with a Chapel service to follow at 4:00pm with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
