Wayne Allen "Ziggy" Howell, 61 years old passed away on Tuesday evening, May 3, 2022 in Mishawaka from the result of a long battle with cancer and heart disease. Wayne was born on September 9, 1960 in South Bend and grew up in North Liberty, later making his home in Syracuse, IN. Wayne was a John Glenn graduate. He married Wanda Ferguson on October 6, 1992 in Roseland, IN. Wayne is survived by his wife of 29 years, Wanda Howell; daughter, Tiffany (Brian) Batson, South Bend; stepchildren, Brian Ernsperger, JR, South Bend, Jennifer (Luis) Perez, Three Rivers, Leslie (Kayla Galbraith) Ernsperger, Niles, MI; 3 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; brother, Bernard "Bernie" (Janice) Drinksy, JR, Mishawaka; sister, Diane (Paul) Annis, North Liberty; several cousins, nephews and nieces. Wayne was preceded in death by his father Bernard Drinsky, SR; mother, Deloris J. (Howell) Drinsky and adopted parents, Ronald N. (Lefty) and Susan E. Howell; brother, Michael Drinsky; infant sister, Cindy Drinsky; and several Aunts and Uncles. Wayne was currently self employed as a subcontractor for Elkhart County and surrounding areas clearing waterways and ditches. Wayne previously worked for Howell Construction and Small, Inc. both of North Liberty. Wayne loved animals including taming squirrels and raccoons for pets as well as stray cats and dogs. Auctions were also on his list of things he enjoyed; he collected anything and everything. Wayne loved to work, he was a workaholic. He also enjoyed Notre Dame football. Family and friends may call from 4-6 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2022 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, followed by a 6 p.m. funeral service also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Wayne Howell may be donated to CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia) or American Heart Association.
