After an arduous battle with cancer, Wanda Jean Palmer (Wormsbaker) of Austin passed away peacefully on November 9th at home surrounded by close family and friends.
Born in Teague, Texas, Wanda was raised by her beloved parents, Clarence and Doris Wormsbaker. Wanda graduated from Richfield High School in Waco in 1970 and attended Southwest Texas State University before moving to New York City. She also lived in Clear Lake, College Station, San Francisco and Tucson.
Having never met a stranger, she was known for her kindness, altruism, outgoing spirit and her love of music and literature. Impressive on the tennis court and a gourmet in the kitchen, Wanda also loved to entertain. She was a wonderful caring wife, mother and grandmother who will forever be missed and carried in our hearts.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her adoring husband, Shane; her loving sisters Lynda and Sharon, her blessed children Jessica, Ryan, Adam, Celia and Rosalie and her precious grandchildren Zoe, Carson, Aston, Austin, Ethan, Sadie, Amelie and Thomas who knew her as Yaya. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. The family has requested that remembrances be made in her name in the form of contributions to the Still Creek Ranch Orphanage (stillcreekranch.org) and The Hummingbird Society (hummingbirdsociety.org).
