Wanda Lorine Oliver was born March 30, 1930 in Somerton, AZ. She was the third child born to Ora May and Harry Monroe Oliver who had moved west from the Fort Smith, AR area. The family later settled around Globe-Miami in Arizona and lived there for many years.
Wanda married Wesley Schoonover when she was seventeen and he was nineteen. They had two children, Billy Dean Schoonover and Brenda Corine Schoonover. They divorced in 1956 and Wanda then married Claude Ogle. There were no children born in that marriage.
Wanda and Claude moved the family to Atoka, Oklahoma in 1965 where they resided until his death in 2008. In 2009, Wanda moved to Arizona to be closer to her daughter, Brenda. In 2012 she moved back to Oklahoma where she became a resident in an assisted living home in Edmond, OK. She subsequently moved to an Alzheimer/Dementia home in Oklahoma City. At the age of 85, she succumbed to progressive and increasing health problems. She died in an Edmond, OK hospital on July 4, 2015.
Wanda worked many years for Bell Telephone and ATT as a telephone operator. She retired early, around 1969, and spent the rest of her life as a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting and quilting. Following the example of her mother Ora May and her grandmother Lockie Jane Crabtree, Wanda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and savior and was baptized into the Christian faith, giving comfort and hope to her family for the resurrection and life in eternity.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her son Billy, her husband Claude, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Whitten-Brown, her daughter-in-law Marcia Schoonover, and five grandchildren, Darbi Whitten, Derek Whitten, David Whitten, Andrea Schoonover Couch and Amanda Schoonover Fowler. She is also survived by fourteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Services will be held at the Atoka Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 2:00 PM. With Frank Couch officiating. Wanda will be buried next to her husband Claude in New Zion Cemetery near Tushka, OK.
