Wanda Ruark Nance, age 74, of Bostwick, passed away on December 20, 2025.
Wanda spent her career in public service, working in the Tax Assessor's office for Morgan County. She also worked with the Board of Education and in child care, roles that reflected her dedication to serving her community and caring for others.
Wanda had a creative and inquisitive spirit and enjoyed many hobbies, including crafting, sewing, quilting, painting, 3-D printing, genealogy, and leatherwork. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Madison Chapter 335.
Family was the center of Wanda's life. She was especially proud to be a grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished every moment spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Missy Lockhart (Chris) of Rutledge, Jim Nance of Bostwick, and Liz Smith (Justin) of Bostwick; her grandchildren, Maddalynn Nance, Natalie Nance, Bear Lockhart, Olivia Nance, Lawson Smith, and Travis Smith; and her great-grandchild, Nova Booth.
She is also survived by her siblings, Barry Ruark (Elinor), Walter Ruark (Kim), Mike Ruark (Deborah), Terry Ruark (Gwen), Doug Ruark (Deanna), and Rick Ruark (Lisa), in-laws Lamar Nance (Barbie), Jean Jagoditsch (Jeff), and many other beloved extended family members.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Clarence Nance; father, James Barrett Ruark, Sr.; mother, Louvie Mae Huff Ruark; and sister, Elaine Bond.
She will be remembered for her creativity, devotion to her family, and the lasting impression she left on those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 27, at 1:30 pm at the James S. Thrasher Memorial Building, located beside the Masonic Lodge in Bostwick. Friends and loved ones are requested to bring a craft that Wanda gave you to display at the service.
