Wanda Kirleen Hiett passed away on March 27, 2021 in Denison, Texas.
Graveside services for Wanda Kirleen Jaggers Hiett, 82, of Denison, will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at Mt. Vernon City Cemetery in Mt Vernon, TX. Services are under direction of Hiett's LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Kirleen was born May 14, 1938, Lubbock, Texas to Zack Jaggers and Ella Kate Armstrong Jaggers. She grew up in Spearman, Texas, and attended school in Spearman, Canyon, and graduating from Plainview Texas High School at midterm in 1956. She lived in Medan, Sumatra and Indonesia from January to September in 1957.
Kirleen met the love of her life, Calvin Blevins Hiett, in Abilene, Texas in 1957. They married May 31, 1958, in Spearman, Texas, and celebrated sixty three years of marriage. She attended Abilene Christian College in 1957, East Texas State University in 1972, and graduated with a master's degree in 1976, now known as Texas A&M Commerce, Texas. Kirleen taught school at Westminster and Melissa, Texas, and retired in 1998. After retirement, Calvin and Kirleen travelled to most of the states and several foreign countries and were both involved in genealogical research. They volunteered for twenty years at Franklin County Genealogical Society Library at Mt. Vernon, Texas.
Kirleen loved to cook, sew, and quilt. She made quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Kirleen was preceded in death by her parents Zach and Ella Kate Jaggers.
She is survived by her husband Calvin Blevins Hiett; son, John Shawn Hiett of Euless, Texas; daughter Wanexa Lee Hiett Briscoe and son in law Brad Briscoe, of Denison, Texas; son, William Garrett Hiett of Euless, Texas; grandchildren: Justin Briscoe and wife Ashley and Kristin Briscoe Boyd and husband Shannon; great grandchildren, Keegan, Krawford and Madeline Briscoe, Ryland and Ellington Boyd.
