Walterine "Willie" Tabb Buckner passed away September 24, 2024 in Burnet, TX six weeks short of her 101st birthday. A lifetime Texan, she was born in Madison County and at age three her family moved to Houston where she grew up, graduated from Stephen F. After Buck returned from service in World War II, they lived in San Antonio while he attended Chiropractic college. Then, moved to Houston where he practiced for 36 years before retiring and moving back to Burnet County. Walterine was active in his career as well as being an involved at-home mother. She actively participated in Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, providing leadership in her children's troops and continually participating in their school activities as a perpetual room mother. When her last child was in high school, she assisted Buck in his office with patients, bookkeeping and tax work. She had been, and was, also active in the wives Chiropractic group.
Walterine was a very talented artist and gifted hostess. Her paintings reflected an admiration for the beauty of the world around us. Her enjoyment of company showed her gift of hospitality, always feeding and sharing her home with family and friends. Anyone who ever visited her knows she was an avid fan of sports, especially her Texas teams. She was very loved and respected and will be missed by all.
