Walter Ewell Weakley, 86, of Palacios (Cape Carancahua), Texas, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was born October 12, 1937, in Simonton, Texas to the late Ewell F. Weakley and Elizabeth Sills Weakley.
He attended Palacios High School where he played football, basketball and other sports, graduating in 1955.
He attended Wharton County Jr. College and volunteered for the US Army from 1957 to 1960. He joined GTE Telephone Company after returning from the Service until he retired in 1993 as Senior Plant Engineer. Retired a second time from real estate sales in Fort Worth Texas until he moved to Cape Carancahua in 2003.
Walter loved and played softball, bowling, hunting, fishing, RV Camping, watching the Texas Rangers or Cowboys play and cruising the seas having accumulated 54 cruises over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ewell F. Weakley, Elzabeth Sills Weakley, and brother Harvey (Danna) Weakley. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Marisa (Marie) Luna Weakley; sister Emily W. Edmunds-San Antonio, Tx; brother Thomas (Kim) Weakley San Antonio, Tx; Daughter Rhenda K. Gray (Jeff Campbell) of Fort Worth Tx; Son Jerry (Cindy) Weakley of Colleyville, Tx; and Terry (Trisa) Weakley of Colleyville, Tx.
The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation at 10:00am Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Palacios Funeral Home in Palacios, Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am with Rev. Ruben Castillo officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas. Pallbearers for Mr. Weakley will be Daniel Belser, Buster Brown, Fred Goynes, Bob Orr, Bryan Weakley and Clinton Weakley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bayside Community Church, 25080 TX-172, Port Lavaca, TX 77979 in Walter's memory.
