Walter R. Tennyson passed away peacefully on February 11, 2022 at 95 years of age surrounded by loved ones in his home. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Daisy Tennyson and their five children Eric (wife Cindy), Heidi, Rex, Walter (wife Sally Ann), and Chris (wife Michele); and 12 loving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, as well as other loving family and friends.
Walter is a World War II Army veteran. His service took him to the Philippines in 1945 with the 86th "Black Hawk" Infantry Division. He was selected and served in the Honor Guard at the Philippine Independence Ceremony in 1946. After the war he worked for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad in New York City and Hoboken, eventually earning advancement to a vice-president of Consolidated Rail Corp. (Conrail) before retiring in 1989. He met his devoted wife, Daisy at church musical events, where she performed major singing roles. They married in 1959 and settled in New Providence, NJ to raise a family. The railroad transferred Walter to Philadelphia and his family moved to Yardley, PA in 1976.
Walter was devoted to his family, his church, and the New Providence Volunteer Rescue Squad where he served a couple terms as Captain. He enjoyed trains, baseball, college football, and reading military history, especially about the Civil War and WWII. He served all faithfully.
