Walter "Sonny" Truell, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Claremont on November 29, 2021. He was born on January 26, 1956 in Newport, NH to the late Walter and Geraldine (Emerson) Truell.
Sonny grew up in the Newport area where he has lived his entire life. Always a hardworking man, he was a manager at Ruger for 29 years before starting his second career owning and operating Truell's Painting for more than 20 years.
Sonny was a very kind man, fun-loving, and was loved by many. He loved spending his quiet time enjoying all things sci-fi related, doing puzzles, reading his favorite books, or even rewatching classic movies. He thoroughly enjoyed sharing his stories and knowledge of many subjects with anyone willing to listen. His pride and joy was spending time with his family. Sonny was notable for the way he loved his family, friends, and even strangers.
Surviving family members include his brothers Bruce Truell and his wife, Charlene, Rick Truell and his wife, Jo of Woodstock, VT; sister Lydia Kimball and her husband, Kevin, of Charlestown, NH; ex-wife and friend: Crystal; children: Matthew Truell and his partner, April Swasey, of Bethel, VT, Nicole Truell of Newport, NH, Aaron Truell and his partner, Stefanie Young, of Lebanon, NH, and Ryann Truell of Lebanon, NH; daughter: Angela Jones of Newport; grandchildren: Owen, Dylan, Hayden, Collin, Lauren, Faith, Morgan, Paige, Kayleigh, Bryce, Gage, Christian, and Chase, great-grandchildren, Brady, Bowen, and Theodore; and nieces and nephews: Corey, Jason, Kristin, Megann, and Justin.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1 to 3 PM at Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home, 42 Main Street, Newport, NH.
