Walter Edward Carnahan
OAKWOOD - Walter Edward Carnahan, 83, of Oakwood died 11:20 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Meadows of Kalida. He was born November 3, 1938, in Oakwood to the late Allen and Edna (Williams) Carnahan. On November 16, 1957, he married Ellen Bidlack, who survives in Oakwood.
Also surviving are six children: Ed (Pam) Carnahan of Sherwood, Carmen Schafer of McComb, Bryan (Brenda) Carnahan of Grover Hill, Stacey (Teresa) Carnahan of Anderson, IN, Nathan (Angela) Carnahan of Van Wert and Glenn (LeAnn) Carnahan of Defiance; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three stepsisters: Jacquelyn Burnham of Michigan, Sandra Bosco of Florida and Faith Ann Bradford of Bryan.
Walter was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Brandy Jo Carnahan and Thomas Ray Carnahan; one great-grandchild: Derrik McKinley; three stepbrothers; and three stepsisters.
Walter retired as a mechanic from Johns Manville, Defiance and was the former owner and operator of Walt's Small Engine Repair. He was a very active member of Prairie Chapel Bible Church, Oakwood. Walter was also an active member of the Village of Oakwood, having served on the water board and as the Village Administrator.
The funeral service for Walter will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2022, at the HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Oakwood with Pastor Earl Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery, Oakwood. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
