Walter S. Cycak
3/30/51 - 10/15/2021
Walt was born in Englishtown, New Jersey, where he eventually worked for his parents at their family food concession stand (Lee and Walt's) at Englishtown Auction Sales. He attended University of Miami (1969-1973) which brought him to Florida and acquired a BA degree. He married his wife, Kathy, in 1972 in New Jersey, but after spending two and half years in Florida, they decided to leave Florida and manage the family food business for 12 years, and living in beautiful Millstone Township, NJ for 38 years. His main career was working in Trenton, NJ for the Department of Records Management and Archives and then, the Department of Health and Human Services for 37 years, retiring to Venice, Florida in 2017. (Back to Florida!) He was also an avid race car enthusiast racing a 1971 Vega and helping our son, Chris, on several Top Fuel Dragster teams.
He loved riding his new bike, which our daughter Jen got him for his 70th birthday in March. He was up to 26 miles per day and proud of it! Walt was also an active member of the "Manasota Fossil Club" and the "Englewood Shell Club" in Florida.
Walt is survived by his wife, Kathy, of 49 years (Venice, FL), a son Christopher, his wife Elizabeth and their son, Charlie (Rock Hill, SC), and a daughter Jen, her husband Ryan Mich (Wrightstown, NJ). He is also survived by his brother Don, his wife Sharon and their four adult children, Stephanie Cycak, Jessica Cycak, Christa Sierotowicz and Matthew Cycak.
A Mass will be held in his memory on Friday, November 19, at 11am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1301 Center Road Venice, FL 34292. A luncheon will immediately follow at 12:30pm in the amenity center in Sarasota National, 25500 National Blvd. Venice, FL 34293.
