Walter Davis Burnett, 85, of Albany, GA, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at Sherwood Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 am in the Atrium, with services at 11:00 am in the Sherwood Chapel.
Born December, 12, 1936 in Thomasville GA, Walter graduated from Albany High School in 1955. He was an Electronic Technician and worked 10 years at Gill's Appliance, 40 years with Knights Appliance and 15 years teaching electronics at Albany Vocational School.
Walter was a member and deacon of Sherwood Baptist Church. He was instrumental in the origination of the Sherwood Baptist Media Department. He had a part in the Sherwood movie Flywheel, self-proclaiming himself a movie star.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Will and Leona Ruth Burnett brother Wayne and sister Betty Dune.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sue K. Burnett, daughters, Carol Baumgartel (Billy) and Lynn Burnett, grandchildren, Bill Baumgartel (Erika) of FL, Jeremy Baumgartel (Katy) of Albany, GA and Kristin Baumgartel of Valdosta, GA, great grandchildren include Alex Baumgartel, Evan Baumgartel, Briley Baumgartel, Kendyl McDonald and Rebekah McDonald, and sister Mary Sineath of Ohio.
Walter loved Jesus, his family and church. He was a man with a gentle spirit, great integrity and character. His life Bible verse II Timothy 1:12 which reads, "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."
