Vivian Cloud Hampton (signed as Vivian C Hampton), born in Kennard, Texas, to William Robert Cloud and Lessie Meberry King Cloud, passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Vivian was a loving and devoted wife to her late husband, W. Leon Hampton, and the best mother and Mimi anyone could ask for. Her love for her family was the center of her life, and she took great pride in being a homemaker, nurturing and supporting her children and grandchildren with endless love.
Though she did not pursue a formal college education, Vivian proudly wore an Aggie Sweetheart Ring from Texas A&M, a symbol of her lifelong connection to the university through her husband, who graduated in 1949. She dedicated herself fully to her family and was happiest when caring for them.
She is survived by her son John Thomas (JT) Hampton of Houston, and her grandson John William Hancock of Pollok, along with their wives, Cheryl Hampton and Shelley Hancock. Her other grandchildren include Lacey Galindo of Little Elm, Lindsay Griffith of Houston, and Matt Hampton of Houston. Her great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, include William Leon Hancock and Vivian Lyanne Hancock of Pollok, TX; Brody Galindo; Jase Griffith; and Briley and Hallie Hampton.
Vivian was predeceased by her beloved husband, W. Leon Hampton, her daughter, Becky Lynn Hampton, and her siblings: Addie Lee Parish, Lillie B De Spain, Mary Sue Johnson, Myrle Lauter, Emery Earl Cloud, Aline Cloud, Claybion F Cloud, William Robert (Uncle Bob) Cloud Jr, James (Uncle Jim) Sherman Cloud, Syble Carrie Wilson, and Gyendolyn (Baby Sister) White.
In the kitchen, Vivian was unmatched. Her Thanksgiving Chicken Dressing was legendary, a dish so good that even Angels would be blessed to eat it. Beyond her culinary talents, her greatest pride came from her family. Her children and grandchildren were her heart, and she took immense satisfaction in seeing Becky, JT, and John William all receive a college education and everything they ever needed, along with nearly everything they ever wanted.
A visitation will be held Thursday, October 24, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gipson Funeral Home, 1515 South Chestnut, Lufkin, TX 75901. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Gann Cemetery.
