Vita Deloris Arndt, 92, of Fort Worth, Texas, and formerly of Lawton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Bristol Park Assisted Living in Fort Worth. She was born on December 4, 1931, in Greenfield, Oklahoma, to Joseph Ruhl and Ruth D. (Van Lehn) Taylor.
On August 22, 1954, Vita married Dwayne E.B. Arndt at the First Baptist Church in Watonga, Oklahoma. Their love and partnership spanned 66 years until Dwayne's passing on May 6, 2021.
Vita earned her bachelor's degree in music from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She began her teaching career in Dill City, Oklahoma, before the family relocated to Lawton. There, she devoted herself to teaching in Lawton Public Schools at Wilson, Sheridan Road, and Western Hills Elementary Schools, retiring in 1985. A talented musician, Vita also taught countless students piano lessons, both privately and at a local music academy. Her passion for music left a lasting impression on many young lives.
Outside of teaching, Vita found joy in gardening and spending time with her family. Her love for animals, especially dogs, was evident to all who knew her. Known for her kindness and gentle spirit, Vita never spoke ill of anyone and brought warmth wherever she went. While living at Bristol Park Assisted Living, she was active in arts and crafts and enthusiastically participated in numerous group trips. As the "designated" piano player, she delighted residents with her musical talents and was cherished by all at the facility.
Vita is survived by her daughter, Roxie Arndt of Lawton; her son, Chris Arndt, and his wife, Sophia, of Haslet, Texas; her granddaughter, Megan Gilmore, and her husband, Brock, of Haslet, Texas; two grandsons, Joseph and Curtis Brooks of Lawton; and her great-grandsons, Tony and Seth Gilmore of Haslet, Texas, and Aiden Brooks of Lawton. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
Vita's legacy of kindness, music, and love will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and two sisters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bristol Park Assisted Living in Fort Worth, Texas for their loving care of Vita.
