Virginia "Ginny" A. (Forsyth) Tortorello, 81, passed away peacefully in her home on Nov. 9, 2021 in Southlake, Texas. Born in Syracuse, New York to John Howard and Maria Teresa (DeRienzo) Forsyth, she spent her childhood on the North Side and graduated from North High School in 1958. Ginny was employed by Onondaga Savings Bank for nearly 40 years and held numerous posts throughout the bank including Manager of the Bank's "Onyx Club" senior retail banking and travel program, Assistant Treasurer in the Retail Banking Division and Manager of the South Warren Street Office. She is a graduate of Onondaga Community College where she received a degree in Business Administration and successfully completed various banking and marketing related courses at University College. Ginny served on the board of several cultural and civic organizations and enjoyed volunteering at Francis House in Syracuse. Ginny loved traveling, organizing group tours, photography, scrapbooking, planning parties and spending time with friends and family. She spent a good part of her life caring for others and giving selflessly of her time, talent and treasure.
Along with her parents, Ginny was predeceased by two siblings: Kathleen (Forsyth) Maitland (Butch) and Jack Forsyth.
Ginny is survived by her children, Peter J. Tortorello (Leslie), Michael L. Tortorello, Laurie A. Tortorello (Pete Aversa) and Karen Eldrett; five grandchildren, Rachel Tortorello, Tyler Quincy, Mikey Tortorello, Alyssa Aversa-Meola (Anthony) and Alexandra Aversa; one great-grandson Ashton James Hicks; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her network of friends and family was extensive in Syracuse, Florida and Texas, often "adopting" new family members along the way. She loved everyone, unconditionally.
A celebration of Ginny's life will be held in the Syracuse area in 2022. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ginny's honor to her favorite philanthropy: Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208 or www.francishouseny.org.
