Virginia H. "Pat" Terry, 92, of Gloucester, wife of the late Harvey S. Terry Jr., passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at Seacoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Somerset, PA on December 2, 1927, daughter of the late Charles J. Harrison Jr. and Gladys S. (Speck) Harrison.
Pat attended boarding school at Linden Hall in PA and later attended Maryland College for Women. Following college, she met and married Harvey S. Terry Jr. and together started a business TRS (Terry Recall Services) which sold and serviced instruments that checks gold and silver thicknesses.
She had a great passion for gardening and for Nantucket basket weaving, where she learned from the first generation of weavers, that being said she decided to teach basket weaving.
She was an amazing artisan and also enjoyed making homemade chocolates with various nuts.
Pat was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Rockport Garden Club. She was the Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Rockport and also volunteered at the Sandy Bay Historical Society.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Pat is survived by her greatest joy and achievement in life, her two daughters, Suzanne "Sue" Blake of Rockport and Virginia "Billie" Winn of Bedford, NH; her husband's 4 children, Kenneth Terry and his wife Anita of FL, David Terry and his wife Sharon of CA, Donna Sands of NH, Beverly Drew and her husband Bill of MA; 2 grandsons, Nicholas Blake, Connor Winn and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren from her husband's side of the family; many nieces, nephews, including special nephew who was like a son to her, Jerry Lashua of Rockport and cousins, including Virginia Harkins and Gertrude "Peggy" Shea.
She was predeceased by her sister, Gladys "Dolly" Lashua; and 2 brothers, James Harrison and Frank Harrison.
Her funeral services will be held privately due to the precautions of COVID 19.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Cape Ann Animal Aid Association, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
