Virginia Roessler Polster, 90 of Santa Claus, IN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6 at her home.
Virginia was born in Fulda, IN, on July 15, 1931, to Meta (Druschel) and Vern Roessler.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles Polster, two brothers, Jim and Richard Roessler, and her son-in-law, Don Hitz.
Surviving her are her sister, Elsa Duncan of Gainesville, FL, and her beloved children who were by her side in death; Bryan (Anne Yamamoto) Polster of Los Altos Hills, CA, Tammy (John) Williams, Kay (Charles) Klewin and Cathy Hitz, all of Santa Claus, IN.
She cherished her nine grandchildren: Laura (Zach WalkerLieb), Emma and Camille Polster, Adam (Elizabeth) and Casey (Brittany) Williams, Hannah Klewin, Olivia, Gabe (Kate) and Jordan Hitz. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Roderick Locke, Lena Williams, Cora and Callie Williams, and Ryker WalkerLieb.
Virginia considered her family to be her greatest blessing in her life. She was a wise, insightful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was the foundation of her family. She was a servant leader, caretaker, nurturer, and confidant to every member of her family.
The greatest gift you can have is a friend and those who knew her were honored with that gift.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston, IN, where she served alongside her husband in the church choir. She was a member of the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League, and the quilting group. She was a longtime employee of General Electric in Tell City. In her spare time, Virginia loved winning at euchre, preparing family meals, solving crossword and puzzles with her daughters, and gardening.
The family invites those who considered her a friend to attend the funeral services at 11:00 AM CST on Monday July 11, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Evanston, IN, with Pastor Steve Shank officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 10 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM CST at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home, Tell City, IN and Monday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the benefit of St. John's Lutheran Church - Charles and Virginia Polster Seminary Scholarship Fund - or the cemetery fund at Trinity UCC Church, Fulda.
