Virginia (Ginger)Ellen Haase Morton, 99, passed away July 18,1920. A native
of Lake City, Minnesota, formerly of Slidell, Louisiana (28yrs), also Plymouth
and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ginger was born September 14,1920 to Lawrence E.
and Ellen C. Haase in Lake City, MN. At First Lutheran Church, she was baptized
November 7,1920 by Rev. Valberg; confirmed 1934 by Rev. Bomgren. She graduated
from: Lake City (Lincoln) High School,1938; Minneapolis Business College,1939;
Donaldson Real Estate School in Louisiana,1985.
She was married to two WWII veterans: Peter H. Kanz, Lt. Col., USAF, July 1943,
divorced, (deceased'00) & Samuel H. Morton, Sgt., USAF, October 1967, (deceased'01).
As the U.S. Air Force transferred for tours of duty, it enabled family travels
throughout Europe, living in Athens, Greece, Munich, Germany and Bordeaux, France.
The last military move was to New Orleans, Louisiana. Ginger began working for
Sears Roebuck and Co. (25yrs) in N.O.LA and Mpls.MN, retiring 1984. Then
was a Realtor in Louisiana (16yrs), retiring 2001.
Beloved mother of: Judith (Judy) Ellyn Kanz (Michael/deceased) Mooring, Fayetteville,
AR; James (Jimmy) Peter Kanz, Sun, LA.; & Janette (Jan) Lynn Kanz (Wayne)Seymour, Mount
Carmel, TN. Stepmother of Sam's children: Betty, LA; Linda, WV; Diane, Katie and
Jim, PA. Grandmother of: Jason P. (Janell) Kanz, Joy C. Kanz (Josh) Feraci, Benjamin P.
Dohre & Rachel C. Dohre, all of Slidell, LA.; Kristen G. Mooring, Sarasota, FL. Step-
grandmother of: Rebecca L. Seymour, Greenbrier, TN.; Andrew, Lyn, Erik and Joshua, PA.
Great-grandmother (GG) of: Hannah, Allison and Chad Stockstill; Lydia, Abigail and
Benjamin (Benji) P. Dohre Jr.; Rani and Breec Kanz. Step-great-grandmother of
Devin Harper. Great-great-grandmother of 3-year-old Noelle Christine White.
She is survived in MN by: sisters, Joyce M. (Curt/deceased) Zillgitt, Lake City;
Gloria A. (Steve) Shedlov, Rogers; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Haase, Faribault
and Ramona Kanz, Wabasha. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother,
Vernon L. Haase, Faribault and sister, LaVonne R. (Fred/deceased) Fick, Lake City.
Many cousins, nieces, and nephews of growing families remain.
Because of the C-19 virus, the graveside service will be on August 8,2020 at 11a.m.
at Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City, MN. Pastors Tim Ehling & Duane Holst will officiate.
