February 8, 1929-May 28, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Virginia (Deena) Mae Watts Langston, on May 28 th 2024. She was surrounded by her loving family and song in her final moments.
Born in Georgetown, South Carolina in 1929, Mom attended Limestone College and graduated summa cum laude at the young age of 20. She went on to teach high school science in Georgetown. In 1950, she married our father, Charles Langston. Together, they raised five children, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. Collectively and separately, Mom held a special place in all of our hearts. She was the gentle matriarch of our family who embodied the Christian principles of love, kindness, and charity in all her dealings with friends, family, and acquaintances. She spent her time volunteering at Helping Hands, singing in the choir, and serving as a ling-time Sunday school teacher at Garden City Baptist Church.
Mom is survived by daughters, Pamela Cooper (Tom), Karen Schock (Andy), Cindy Crawford (Keith), Ginger DeWulf (David) and son, Charles (Chip) L. Langston., their children and grandchildren. Mom joins Dad, Charlie, who died 27 years ago.
A celebration of life to honor our Mom will be held in September.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her name be donated to the Garden City Baptist Church, Garden City, South Carolina.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
