Virginia Leacy Price born in Watertown, Massachusetts, on August 26, 1935, daughter of late Florence Veronica Lannon and Ralph Dillon Leacy, and wife of Dothard Lynn Price. After a brief illness, she went home to be with the Lord on 28 September 2024. Preceded in death by Dothard Price (husband), Wayne Dayton Price (son), Donna-Lee Price (daughter in law), siblings Ralph Leacy of Indiana, Florence Wing of Maine, and Geraldine Coggershall of Massachusetts.
After high school, Virginia briefly worked in Boston for the John Hancock Insurance Company before joining the U.S. Navy where she met her husband Dothard. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waldorf since 1959, where she taught Sunday School many years and served in the preschool education ministry for eight years. While teaching preschool, she sought a teaching degree. After earning her teaching degree, she decided to pursue a nursing degree. She received her nursing degree and her R.N, license in 1979. Virginia worked many years as an R.N. at the local hospital, nursing home, and retired from Charles County Health Department as a Community Health Nurse. After retirement, she volunteered at the Richard R. Clark Senior Center teaching genealogy, painting, and sewing, and volunteered at the LDS Family History Center assisting clients with research. She enjoyed painting, gardening, sewing, needle work, and meeting people.
She wrote a book on her family history, which documents her family/ancestors back to 1520. Through her research, she discovered that she was first generation American on her mother's side and second on her father's side. She also enjoyed traveling in America, Alaska, Ireland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Canada, and China.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory brother Harry (Anne) Leacy, sons Larry (Mary) and Ralph Sr; grandchildren Melissa, Ralph Jr (Crystal), Brittany, Larry Jr, Brian, and Brandy; great- grandchildren Colton, Airabella, Brian Jr, Fairlena Belle, Morgan, Masen, Shawn, Jayden, Landon, Donovan and Aubree.
Family and Friends will be received on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 1:00-3:00 PM and again from 5:00-7:00 PM at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646, where a Funeral Service will be will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Virginia's name may be made to First Baptist Church of Waldorf, 10045 Bunker Hill Road, Waldorf, MD 20603.
