Virginia E. Fitzpatrick ("Ginny") 86 of Danvers, formerly of Falmouth (13yrs) and Andover (28yrs) passed away in the peaceful care embrace of the Kaplan Hospice House with family after a sudden illness.
Ginny was born in East Derry, NH in 1934 to William and Ruby Hutton of Derry, NH. She was a 1952 graduate of Pinkerton Academy and graduated in 1956 from the Elliot Community Hospital School of Nursing in Keene, NH. She then went on to work, live and train in Boston, MA at Beth Israel Hospital and in 1960 earned her Post Graduate Certification in Clinical Anesthesia. She went on to have a 38-year career in nursing and retired in 1994 as RN Director of Nursing in the field of geriatrics.
Ginny was a fierce card player, wonderful dance partner and a black coffee devotee. She was the original working Mom, finding time for family and work. Dedicated to her nursing career of taking care of others, she went through life, "getting it done". She gave her children, the gift of independence. That being able to do for yourself ultimately gave you the freedom of choice in life, but to leave room for compassion to help others when needed. An avid sports fan she loved attending her children's high school and college games and watching her favorite local sports teams the Bruins & BC Football.
After retiring to the Cape, she began working at the Emerald House in East Falmouth, a non-profit thrift store serving the local community. She enjoyed her Dirt Digger Club and had the best time having children and grandchildren around and entertaining any family or friends that wanted to come by. After moving closer to her children after the death of her husband in 2015, she continued volunteer work becoming, after one year in residence, the Co-Chair of Resident Council of the Brookdale/Linden of Danvers. She worked hard as an advocate voice for her fellow resident concerns and rights to management. She held the position as Co-Chair until one month before her illness prevented her from continuing her duties.
She was beloved wife of Alan J. Fitzpatrick (Deceased November 2015) and devoted mother of Mark Fitzpatrick and wife Susan, Eric Fitzpatrick and wife Carol, Torrie Laros and husband David, Kerry Eon and husband Michael; devoted Grammy/Nana to Julia, Zachary, Liam, Jacob, Meghan, Mekonnen, Joshua and loving Aunt and Great Aunt to many Hutton/Loveitt nieces and nephews.
