Virgil Wiesner passed away on November 13, 2021 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 83. A very kind and loving man, he was born on November 29, 1937 in Hays, Kansas and grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Creighton University in Omaha and served in the Marine Corp Reserves from 1956-1962.
He was an entrepreneur at a young age, owning a beer distributorship and a tire store in Nebraska. After some work as a stockbroker, he moved to Dallas in 1983 and started a new career at Interfirst Bank (Bank of America) in Investment Banking. He retired in 2012 after 18 years with Estrada Hinojosa and Company. He served as a lector at Christ the King Church for many years. He also enjoyed some recreational blackjack in Las Vegas, golf, college football (Nebraska Cornhuskers) and the Dallas Cowboys.
Virgil was pre-deceased by his parents, Lawrence and Frances Wiesner, mother-in-law Frances Dale and brother-in-law Tom Dale, and niece Cheryl Speck. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Anne Dale Thomasson Wiesner; children Scott Wiesner (Rhonda), Lydia Haas (Collin) and Michelle Williams (Don), step-children John Thomasson (Audrey) and David Thomasson (Tiffany), his sister Twila Rodgers(Daryl), two nieces, Sheila Roberts and Joleen Jourdan and nephew, Hunter Dale. He is also blessed with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 29 (his 84th birthday) at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Road, Dallas, with Father Ryan Hiaeshutter as celebrant.
