Virgil D. Locke went to be with his Lord on Monday, October 4, 2021. He was born on September 13, 1936 in Lovelady, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at The Church of Glad Tidings Assembly of God with Brother Charles McShan and Brother Larry Tilmon officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Houston Cemetery in Palestine, TX. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Herrington/ Land of Memory.
Virgil was best known for his love of God and his friendly loving spirit toward others. He served as deacon of Westside Assembly of God in Palestine for many years. Virgil loved to work in and around the church and witnessing for his Lord.
Virgil is survived by his wife of 59 years, Matte Locke; son, Richard Locke and wife Evie of Granbury, TX; daughter, Beckey Townsend and husband Daryl of Katy, TX; his four grandchildren, Taylor Townsend of Fort Worth; Hannah and Cameron Townsend of Katy, TX; Sean Locke of Granbury, TX; sister, Nona Cole of Buna, Texas; brothers, Curtiss Locke of Bay City, TX, Marlin Ray Locke of Silsbee, TX, and Larry Locke of Honey Island, TX; as well as many nieces, and nephews.
