Violet Ruth (Morris) Racer

Violet Ruth Morris Racer, of Orange, passed away May 17, 2024 at the Dogwood Village of Orange. She was the last surviving child of Empire and Dora Brookman Morris, born on April 29, 1925 at Eheart, VA.

She was predeceased by her nine sisters and one brother; her husband, George L. (Dick) Racer; her son, Douglas L. Racer; grandson, Keith D. Racer; and son-in-law, Sonny McGhee.

She is survived by her son, Steve M. Racer his wife Chris; daughter, Joann R. McGhee; grandchildren, Anthony McGhee, Audrey Badgett her husband Brian, Mark McGhee his wife Sherri; great-grandchildren, Kameron McGhee, Dylan McGhee his wife McLendon, Colby McGhee his friend Kaitlyn, Justin Badgett his fiancee' Meagan; great-great-grandchildren, Kinslee McGhee, Levi McGhee and Paige McGhee; special niece, Pat Davis; and special caregivers, Tracey U. Velasco and Donna B. Diaz.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel, Orange with Pastor Kris Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Jefferson Pky.
