Violet Rose Kimble, 87, passed away peacefully February 26, 2022. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, friend, and neighbor. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Russell and Gladys Lilly on August 16, 1934. She is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles, cousins, and childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 28 years, William A. Kimble Jr. She is survived by sons, Charles Kimble (Judy), Ronald Kimble (Deanna); grandchildren, Keli, Kevin, April, Amanda (Joshua), and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Katie, Meredith, Melanie, Avonlea, and Gianluca; beloved cousin, Lorene Cale (Bob); and dearest nephew, Chuck Lourimore (Debbie).
Violet Rose came into this world during the Great Depression and left it during what we hope is the waning of the pandemic. She was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, attending Allegheny High School which is when she met her childhood sweetheart, William (Bill) as he peddled the local newspaper. He soon won her heart and though they went their separate ways for a time, they reunited and had a marriage lasting nearly 28 years. As Violet's maiden name was Lilly, she picked up the nickname "Little Three Flowers," which Bill often used lovingly in cards and gifts.
Violet was a devoted wife and mother whose early career was as a bookkeeper in a jewelry store in downtown Pittsburgh. The military brought the family to Tampa in 1968 where she resided the remainder of her life. She was an active presence volunteering at schools doing whatever they needed in the classroom, serving on the PTA board, as the Band Mom, and manning concession stands for her sons' sports events. Violet enjoyed traveling with Bill when they had time to do so and was a member of the Tampa Rose Society raising hundreds of varieties of roses over the years. She loved sewing, knitting, and quilting until her hands no longer allowed her to do so. She was a collector of many things and loved the holidays, especially Christmas, which she shopped for nearly year-round. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Violet lived frugally but gave generously. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, graduation, or other opportunity to send a card and cash. She loved her family and the company of her cat, Molly. We will miss her every day, but take comfort knowing that she is free from illness and is reunited with her true love, "Sweet William", in eternity with the Lord.
