Violet Marie "Vi" Finzel, 95, of Grantsville, MD, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020, at her home surrounded by her family. Born August 13, 1925, in Smock, PA, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Mae (Butler) Morozek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley William Finzel; two sons, Gary W. Finzel and Marvin Wayne Finzel; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Finzel; son-in-law, Robert Wilt; one grandson, Eric Wilt; one brother, Leo Morozek and two sisters-in-law, Helen Morozek and Janet Mawhinney. Vi was owner and operator of White Oak Inn for 25 years, she always said "If you can't go out and have a good time, stay at home." With her husband, Stanley, they also operated Finzel Coal Co. and Finzel Trucking, Inc. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish, St. Ann Church. Surviving are her daughter, Sheila A. Wilt, Grantsville; one brother, Lawrence Morozek, Fayette City, PA; four grandchildren, Robbie (Angie) Wilt; Joe (Maronda) Wilt; Tracy (Steve) Fratz; Howard (Beth) Finzel; ten great grandchildren, Kasie, Kaitlynn, Ryan (Abby), Adam, Aaliyah, Shayla (Arron), Devin, Malcolm (Shaunna), Nathan (April) and Bryson; five great-great-grandchildren, Lilliam, Gabrial, Silas, Kason and Kaisley; many special nieces and nephews with whom she had a special bond and loved dearly, including a very special niece, Michelle (Jody) Meisner. "A true Matriarch has taken flight. My precious Mother, my best friend known as Nanny Vi to so many has joined her Savior and Lord. She is rejoicing with so many that awaited her. She once told her special granddaughter, when she got to heaven she was going to tell the Angels to move over cause she is there. Loved beyond measure by so many because she loved beyond measure and touched so many, many, others. She never met a stranger. She had such a very special bond with her grandchildren and great grandchildren She was so dedicated to GOD all of her life on this realm and did HIS work daily bringing such joy to others. She always found the joy in any and all situations. We are all so very Blessed to have had her in our lives. She will be greatly missed but what Blessings that we had her here for so long." Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Dana Umbel officiating. Interment will be in Finzel Cemetery.
