Victor Eugene Ayers (92) of Boyne City passed away on March 30, 2021
Victor was born on March 19, 1929 to Lucille and Clifford Ayers in Flint, Michigan. He lived in the lumber camps between Elmira and Gaylord until he was about 5 years old. The family then moved to East Jordan where he graduated from High School in 1947.
He worked at the East Jordan Iron Works for several years, while also working at Eveline Orchards and at his Dad's garage. In 1959 he moved to Boyne City where he worked for A.R. Sinclair, a chevy dealer that later became Harry Atkins Chevrolet. He changed jobs and became a bus supervisor/mechanic for Boyne City Schools. After retiring he drove for Sysco.
He married Phyllis Gothro and had two children with her, Linda & Vicki. Victor & Phyllis were married 12 years.
In 1960 he met and married Diane Dougherty. Victor and Diane went on to have four children, Calvin, Tracy, Angela & Terry.
Victor was one of the founding members of the Boyne City Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Fire Department from 1962-1977.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, food, playing cards and being with people. He was kind and had a huge heart. Always there to lend a helping hand to family, friends and strangers. Feeding and watching the birds was a daily event. He was always ready to talk recipes, food and making sauerkraut. A twenty- minute trip to town would turn into an hour because he always bumped into someone he knew.
Victor was predeceased by his parents Clifford & Lucille Ayers, his daughter, Linda Mally and her husband (John), his brother Jerry and his wife (Nan) Ayers, his sister Joyce Spohn and her husband (John).
He is survived by his wife, Diane Dougherty Ayers, his sisters, Gayla (Bill) Wolf, Sherry (Guy) Dean, his daughter in law Donna Mally, his children Vicki (John) Taylor, Calvin Ayers, Tracy Ayers, Angela Ayers (George Grundner), Terry Ayers (Sherri Martinez). Sons of the heart, Peter Johnson and Dean Miller. Grandchildren, Laura (Bruce) Turner, Bernie Fornwald, Eric Pratt, Jeff Mally, Jennifer Lutke, Aisha (Todd)Newenhouse, George (Jamie) Grundner, Wyatt Ayers, Emma Ayers, and many great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Advance at the Advance Board of Commerce located at 984 N Advance Road, Boyne City MI on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at noon with a lunch following. Paster Deneille Moes of Jordan River Church will officiate. An outside tent will be provided for the occasion and COVID precautions will be taken.
