Vicki Lynn Wayman, 64, was welcomed unto the loving arms of the Lord on December 10th at Hospice House in Bloomington. Unlike so many promising students who chose to leave Brown County, she became a lifelong country girl who chose to supplement her education by earning two two-year degrees, one from IU and the other from Purdue.
Before she was old enough to drive she found her for life charity. She talked her sister into driving her around the county collecting signatures requesting the County Commissioners approve a humane society. Today Brown County has one of the most respected No Kill shelters in the country.
As a townie she developed a love for speed peddling too fast through the streets of Nashville, and at sixteen she acquired a white mustang convertible, also able to exceed the legal limits. She had acquired a respect for the law, since her father had been an MP and a Town Marshal and her mother had been twice elected Clerk of the Circuit Court, so she accepted her tickets with grace. She loved taking vacations, especially ones that included attending a NASCAR or Indy Car race along the way.
Her first job after high school was with Attorney Tom Zeig, a chance to learn law. Next she worked for Tom's wife Barbara at her accounting office doing accounting and taxes absorbing life lessons from the local judge, artists, business owners and many others from all walks of life.
At the time of her death, Vicki was the owner of two businesses, Bearwallow Gifts. a ladies boutique on South VanBuren St. in Nashville and Wayman-Leggett Enterprises, Owner and Operator of rental properties. In addition to business, she had many other interests including reading, live music at the local music center , live plays and local art.
There will be a Celebration of Life in April, with thousands of spring flowers, lots of food, lots of drinks, lots of music, lots of stories, and best of all, lots of good friends.
Vicki was preceded in death by her Mother Violet Bell Wayman and Father Edward Wayman.
She is survived by her sister Nina B. Leggett of Brown County; cousin Kevin Wayman of
Marion County; and her beloved yellow lab, Kaylee.
