Verna Verde, devoted wife, and mother, died Sunday, December 19, 2021, at her home in Port Arthur, Texas surrounded by her family. Verna was born on December 31, 1938, to Marks and Laura Mae Levy. Verna graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and remained close to several of her dear classmates throughout the years. Verna loved spending time with her family and enjoyed her time outdoor tending to her flowers and plants.
Survivors include her husband, JC Verde; sister Anna Belle Simpson and her husband, Leo, of Orangefield; sister, Donna Levy of Harlingen, Texas; son, Steve Nunez and his wife, Tami of Nederland; daughter, Terri Nunez Runte and her husband, Allen, of LaBelle; stepsons, Steve Verde and his wife, Terri, of Sour Lake and Paul Verde and his wife, Roxanne, of Kissimmee, Florida; stepdaughter, Flora Hebert of Nederland; grandchildren, Boo Nunez, Cary Nunez, Julian Nunez, Jace Runte, Luke Runte, Tessa Runte, Damien Verde, Heather Verde, Dylan Hebert, Kaleb Hebert, and Cody Allen, along with eight- great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her sister Gail Marcantel.
A gathering of Mrs. Verde's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Ave, Nederland, with her entombment to follow at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Groves.
Pallbearers will be Boo Nunez, Cary Nunez, Julian Nunez, Jace Runte, Luke Runte, Damien Verde, Dylan Hebert, Kaleb Hebert, and Cody Allen.
