Born August 8, 1906 in Ephraim, Utah to Andrew Mortensen and Anne Johanne Kjeldsen Mortensen. Married John Eldon Morrey, July 10, 1929 in the Manti LDS Temple. He died September 6, 1987.Graduated from the Snow Academy and the University of Utah. Taught elementary school in Joseph, Elsinore and Monroe from 1926 to retirement. Active in the LDS Church thoughout her life. Relief Society president and teacher, ward and stake YWMIA president and Primary presidency. Active DUP officer.
She loved her family both extended and immediate and many dear friends. She was very proud of her heritage.
Survivors: three sons and one daughter and spouses, John R. and Barbara Morrey, Bucharest, Romania (LDS mission president); Anna and Earl Gillies, Malad, Idaho; Russell A. and JaNell Morrey, Midvale; Richard E. and Cindy Morrey, Sandy; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, Virgia E. M. Cowley, Salt Lake City; preceded in death by her husband, parents and seven brothers and sisters, Conrad, Algia, Omray, Mabel, Ruby, Rue and Andrew.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 17, 1994, 11 a.m., in the Joseph LDS Chapel in Elsinore, Utah. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Joseph Ward Chapel in Elsinore from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Burial: Ephraim City Cemetery at 4 p.m.
