Constableville - Velma Metott, 85, of John Street passed away on March 14, 2022 at Rome Health.
She was born in Rome, NY on August 4, 1936 a daughter of David G. and Ida Jane Gilbert Reed. She grew up in Taberg and graduated from Camden High School in 1954. She married Sheldon (Jack) Metott on September 26, 1954 in Camden, NY. The couple moved to Constableville in 1967 where they operated a dairy farm. Jack passed away on December 23, 1983. Velma was employed with the ARC Day Treatment Center in Turin for many years. She was very active in the Constableville United Methodist Church where she taught religious education. She greatly enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene Metott, Glenfield, Steven and Lillian Metott and Thomas Metott, all of Constableville; grandchildren, Mark Jr., Samantha and William Metott, Michael and Mitchell Metott, Gina Marie Lyndaker, Steven Metott Jr. and Jessica Wooline; ten great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Beverley Metott Pruckno; two brothers, David Reed Jr., Taberg and James Reed, Tennessee; one sister, Sue (Raymond) Salmon, Florida. Besides her husband she is predeceased by two sons, Sheldon Metott Jr. in 1987 and Mark Metott in 2020, two brothers Robert and William Reed and three sisters, Dorothy Morrill, Betty Metott and Patricia Barnard.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville. Velma's funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Constableville United Methodist Church. Calling hours at church from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Spring burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Williamstown, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Constableville Methodist Church.
