Velma Faye Walker Cole, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on November 6, 2019 at the age of 93 years. She was born June 17, 1926 in Fisher County, Texas to Dallas Alexander Walker and Sarah Edna Ferrell Walker.
Faye, as she preferred to be called, served in the United States Air Force and was Captain when she was honorably discharged on February 28, 1961. She also worked as a Dietician for the South Carolina State Health Department while living on Springwood Plantation in Georgetown, SC,
Survivors include her son, Benjamin H. Cole of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandson, Alex Cole, also of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Daline Scott of San Antonio, Texas and brother-in-law, Gerald Adkins.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas and Sarah Walker; husband, Benjamin Harold Cole; twin sister, Thelma Maye Adkins; as well as three brothers: Stephen M. Walker, William F. Walker, and Gary Leroy Walker.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2019 starting at 12:30 p.m. at Cain Calcutt Funeral Home, 512 West 2nd Loop Rd, Florence, South Carolina 29595. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Florence National Cemetery in Florence, South Carolina.
