Veldean Roy Monday, 86 of Liberty, KY, went home to be with the Lord on January 21, 2022, at 7:33 A.M. at her residence, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Herlin Lee Monday whom she married on September 28th, 1957, and who preceded her in death on September 3, 2020. Veldean was born November 30th, 1935, in Russell County, the daughter of Leslie and Mollie Johnson Roy. She was a mother, a homemaker and entrepreneur. At the age of 18, she opened and operated her own country store in Windsor, Kentucky. She co-owned Monday's Sundae Ice Cream Shop, and Monday's Sign Sales and Rental, as well as selling her own home grown produce and crafts. She also was a farm er who loved raising cattle, which was her favorite occupation. Veldean was a faithful member of the Pentecostal Faith and became a born-again Christian at 13 years of Age. She was a member of the Highway 49 Holiness Church in Liberty where she was the pianist. She also wrote many songs, played her Martin D-21 guitar, and sang in church. She loved quilting, crocheting, and gardening. She is survived by her daughters, Teena and her husband Danny Payton of Windsor, Kentucky; Timsa and her husband Rick Naylor of Science Hill, and Jill and her husband, Bobby Mauldin of Eubank. Granddaughters, Cari and her husband, Shawn Grant, Lori and her husband Jeremy Meece, and Ashley and her husband Derek Martin. Grandsons, Joshua Naylor and his wife Tamera Naylor, Benjamin and his wife Jocelynn Naylor, and Austin Mauldin. Great-granddaughters, Beatrice Naylor, Isabella Eckborg, Mandolynn Martin, Amelia Grant, Rikki LeeAnn Naylor, and Melody Martin. Great Grandsons, Tobias Naylor, Will Grant, Jackson, and Maddox Meece. She also has, 4 Step-grandchildren, and 7 Step Great-grandchildren. A brother, Elmon Roy of Crestwood, Kentucky. Sisters in Law, Rebecca Wheeler, and Mildred Monday Anderson, Indiana; special care givers, Debbie Meece and Emojean Bowlin. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Billy Roy.
Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Sunday January 23rd, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Monday January 24th, 2022, at Bartle Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Phillip Smallwood, Bro. Shirley Denson, and Phyllis Denson officiating. Burial will be in the Caney Fork Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Grant, Jeremy Meece, Derek Martin, Herlin Joshua Naylor, Benjamin Naylor, and Austin Mauldin.
