Valerie V. Woodruff, age 95, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at The Grand at Utica.
Valerie was born in Cordele, Georgia on June 7, 1928 to the late Charles and Lilie Williams Clopton. On December 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to William Woodruff; a blessed union of nearly 50 years until his passing in 1996. She was formerly worked at Goldberg's in Rome where she was a seamstress.
Valerie enjoyed sewing, crochet, and going to craft shows. She would often bake cakes, especially for weddings at her home. She was the number one supporter of her children and grandchildren in whatever they did whether it was artistic, musical, or sporting events. She was a member of the Floyd Vol. Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary for over 50 years.
Valerie is survived by her children, Wilma (John) Kotary of Floyd, Patrick Woodruff of Floyd, and William (Cathy) Woodruff of Holland Patent; grandchildren, Kimberly Kotary, Benjamin (Patty) Woodruff, and Sarah Gibson; great grandchildren, Noah, Cora, and Victoria; great, great grandson, Jax; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Margerie Evelyn Clopton and James "Jack" Clopton.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday February 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 6 PM prior to the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Floyd Vol. Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary.
