V. Christine "Chris" Grinnell Davis, 88, of Elkhart, went Home peacefully to her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Elkhart Place.
Chris was born on April 21, 1933, to Joseph and Aurora Pryor in West Ridge, AR. She was married to the late James Clifton Grinnell and her second husband, Wilbert Franklin Davis.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Judie Hasbany, brother, Billy Pryor; sisters, Betty Totten and JoAnn Begick and son-in-law, Dan Reau.
Chris is survived by her children, Mary (Peter) Thiessen, Frank (Karen) Davis, Nancy Reau, Jan (Rick) Secor, Colleen (Jerry) Smith, Carlean (Jimmy) Cundiff, Carolyn Akins and Betty (Ron) Berger; son-in-law, Roger Hasbany; and sister-in-law, Donna Pryor; 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Chris was a long-time resident of Sylvania, OH. She was a kitchen manager for Sylvania Schools. Chris was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene. She also taught Sunday School and was the leader of Caravans at her church.
Chris loved God and serving Him. For several years, she was a camp counselor at Indian Lake Nazarene Campground. Chris held Good News Clubs in her home to teach the children about the Lord.
Chris looked forward to family reunions at Pokagon State Park every year.
Chris was a loving, kind and caring lady. She had a quiet spirit and she always put others before herself. An example of her giving nature was donating her hair to Locks of Love.
Her highest priorities were her God and family. Chris had an endearing "woohoo" to everyone she met.
There will be a Celebration of Chris's life at a later date. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to Alzheimer's Foundation of America or the American Cancer Society.
