Ugo John Luciani passed away on August 23, 2021 at the age of 87 in Camarillo, Ca where he was a resident for the last 46 years after moving here from Chicago, Il where he was born on June 20, 1934.
Ugo attended school in Chicago before dropping out at the age of 16 to begin working to help support his family after the unexpected death of his father who passed away in Italy while visiting family. Ugo did odd jobs before eventually working in the construction industry for many years including being a foreman for Arrow Construction, specializing in asphalt.
It was during this early time in his life that he met his future wife and forever love of his life, Marie Belvedere. Ugo and Marie were married on January 19, 1957 and the following year Ugo joined the United States Army and was soon stationed in Frankfurt, Germany where Marie joined him during his service. After his honorable discharge, they returned to Elk Grove, Il and his career in the construction business. They welcomed son, Anthony John in 1968 and daughter, Nicole Marie in 1972.
In 1974, they relocated to Camarillo, California and entered the restaurant business. Owning Marie's Pizza Villa in Camarillo for a time as well as working with Marie's family, the Belvedere's, at Ottavio's Italian restaurant for the next 35+ years. Everyone that knew him knew how much he loved Ottavio's as he bragged to anyone and everyone that would listen about the best Italian food ever, including up until the last few months as he would tell anybody he could how great it was and how proud he had been to work there .
Ugo was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers, sister, and his beloved wife. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Meadow Luciani of Phoenix, Az and daughter and son-in-law, Nicky and Steve Villa of Camarillo, Ca as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who are like family.
We are forever thankful for the loving, amazing caregivers who provided for Ugo at the end of his life. You will forever be a part of our family. We are at peace knowing that Ugo has been reunited with all that have passed before him, especially the love of his life, Marie.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10:00am in the Chapel of the Hills at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park: 2052 Howard Rd Camarillo, Ca 93012. A Graveside Service and reception will follow at same location.
