Tressie M. Sturm, of Ripley, formerly Arnoldsburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 5, 2024, six days shy of her 98th birthday.
Tressie was born February 11, 1926 a daughter of the late Elza and Ona (White) Wilson of rural Calhoun County. In addition to her parents and several brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Cecil F. Sturm.
Tressie is survived by her children Ron (Connie) of Tucson, AZ, Larry (Lora) of Ripley and Sharon Wilt (Mike) of Ripley; six grandchildren Brent, Angie, Shelley, Kristen, Kelley and Kara. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Roscoe Wilson of Hobe Sound, FL and Blain (Linda) Wilson of Norton, OH.
Tressie lived most of her life on a farm in Calhoun County where she enjoyed raising a large vegetable garden and canning produce, working on a variety of community improvement projects and producing beautiful handmade quilts.
A service to celebrate her life will be held 1 p.m. Friday, February 9th at Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Steven Hamrick officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Sturm Family Cemetery at Mt. Zion in Calhoun County with a brief graveside service for friends and family.
