Thomas "Tommy" Rion Rivers, 82 of Williston, SC died at his home on Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Tommy was born March 11, 1941, in Winnsboro, SC and was the son of the late David Henry and Mildred Boulware Rivers. A 1965 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy, he and his wife owned and operated Rivers Pharmacy in Williston, SC, for 50 years. Tommy loved and served his community as mayor of Williston, town council member, school board member for Williston-Elko School Board, the SC Municipal Association board, and in many local clubs and organizations. He was awarded Williston Citizen of the Year and was honored with the SC Pharmacy Bowl of Hygeia for community service. He as a member of Williston United Methodist Church and hosted a men's prayer breakfast each week at Rivers Pharmacy. He was a devoted Carolina Gamecock.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary McCright Rivers; children, Thomas David Rivers (Irene) of Wake Forest, NC, Christopher Rion Rivers (Tonja) of North Augusta, SC, and Martha McCright Rivers Davisson (Doug) of Aiken, SC; ten grandchildren, Nathan Rivers (Alex), Danny Rivers, Alissa Rivers, Rion Rivers, Jackson Rivers, Emma Davisson, Maggie Davisson, Mary Davisson, Patrick (Heaven) Yeh and Alex Yeh; one great-grandchild, Alaina Rivers; and a sister, Patsy Rivers Ellis (Bill).
The family will visit with loved ones one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Services will be held at three o'clock p.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Williston United Methodist Church with the Reverends Melissa Williams and Phinize Young officiating.
