Tommie Brasher Stewart, 87, of Sunrise Beach, Texas passed away May 14, 2022. She was born to Jewell and Lorena (Curington) Brasher on December 5, 1934 in Sweatman, Mississippi.
Tommie married W. C. (Dub) Stewart, III on January 16, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee where Tommie was an accomplished hair stylist. They moved to Corpus Christi where Tommie was a principle grower/owner in a commercial greenhouse providing house plants and poinsettias to K-Mart, Wal-Mart, HEB and various other local establishments. In addition to her green thumb, Tommie was a talented wood carver. She hand-carved busts, walking canes, old world Santa Claus' as well as wooden ball point pens. She also enjoyed quilting and many of her quilts were donated to Project Linus for needy children. Dub and Tommie moved to Sunrise Beach in 2000.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Dub Stewart of Sunrise Beach, Texas; children Walter Lee Stewart and wife Holly of Georgetown, Texas and Lori Stewart Wharton and husband Scott of Katy, Texas; grandchildren John Brennan Stewart and wife Caroline of Georgetown, Texas, Austin Chase Stewart of Denver Colorado, Kendall Blair Stewart of Georgetown, Texas, Walker Stewart Wharton, and Warren David Wharton both of Katy, Texas. She also leaves behind one great grand-daughter Vivian Yvonne Stewart of Georgetown, Texas and her brother Ellis Brasher and wife Irene of Rusk, Texas. Tommie is preceded in death by daughters Dawn and Patsy Ann and her parents.
Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 PM Saturday May 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church Sunrise Beach with funeral services starting at 2:00 PM with Brian Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Mountain Cemetery in a private family gathering. A reception with light snacks will be served following the service at the church. All are invited.
A tremendous gratitude is given to the Arbor House of Marble Falls for the many years of loving care they provided Tommie in her time of need. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association or Project Linus.
