Tommie Jean (Beauchamp) Barrett, age 79, died in her home on January 18th after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Tommie was born in Midland, TX. In 1966, shortly after her marriage, she moved to Las Vegas, NV where she enjoyed raising her family and working for Clark County Credit Union and Southwest Gas. In 1995, after retirement, she and her husband moved to Kerrville, happy to be back in Texas. Family was always Tommie's top priority second only to her unwavering faith in Christ. She often opened up her home in gracious hospitality to friends and family alike for celebrations of life and love. Tommie was active in Toastmasters in both Nevada and Texas. Having a rare blood type she donated blood every eight weeks eventually donating close to twenty gallons.
Tommie will be remembered for her baking and cake decorating. She loved to read, travel and play cards. An avid quilter and long-time member of the Hill Country Quilt Guild, she won many ribbons from around the state for her quilts. Tommie is survived by Robert W. Barrett her husband of 61 years, her adult children Teresa Gonzales, Vivian McEwin, Robert (Joe) Barrett, and Bettina Lauff (exchange student), 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and her sister Ann Hicks of Midland, TX. Tommie's family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Peterson Hospice for all of their help and support during these final days. Special thanks go to CNA's - Bethany, Hope, Julie, Kristy, Martha, and Melissa; RN's - Allison Elro (who was a Godsend), Candy Campbell, Cassie Taylor (Discharge), Charleen McGowen, Diane Scull, Harley Wells, and Mary Beth (Admissions), Dr. Young and Chaplin Matt Melton. Service's will be held on February 5, 2022 at Kerrville Funeral home at 10AM. The family asks, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tommie's name to Peterson Hospice, 551 Hillcountry Drive, Kerrville, TX, 78028.
