The family of Thomas Lee Williamson mourns the loss of their beloved husband, father, and grandfather to this world on Sunday, September 18, 2022, and we celebrate his arrival into the loving presence of our LORD and Savior.
Tom was born in Thomson, Georgia on June 30, 1952. He was the son of the late Meryl and Woodrow Williamson. He graduated from Thomson High School in 1970 and from Newberry College in 1974. He enjoyed a career in the insurance business as he served his many clients in the Anderson area.
Tom was a gifted athlete. He had a stellar football career in Thomson, Georgia as a high school quarterback and went on to become a Small College All-American. He was also inducted into the Hall of Fame at Newberry. Tom was an avid golfer which provided joy with family members and led to many cherished friendships. He delighted in the outdoors and spent much time in his yard enjoying God's creation and the work of his hands.
Tom was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Anderson, SC. He served as a youth Sunday School teacher, a Deacon and was a faithful member to the Men's Bible Class. He was a God-fearing man and his life was conducted accordingly.
To know Tom was to love him. He had a kind spirit and a loving heart. He was a devoted father and grandfather, an endearing husband and a loyal friend. He was blessed with eleven grandchildren. Tom loved dancing with his grandchildren, laughing and joking around the dinner table, spending Sunday afternoons around the pool, and simply being with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Debbie Townsend Williamson, son Blake Williamson (Caryn) of Anderson, son Eric Williamson (Caroline) of Rock Hill, SC. daughter Jenny Craddock (Jason) of Anderson, eleven grandchildren: Jackson, Courtney, Adam, Kate, Molly, Anna, Rhett, Warren, Townsend, Will, and Ben and siblings Larry Williamson and David Williamson. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jimmy.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Welcome Center. A private committal service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
